Little Tokyo Identity

As a dynamic hub of Japanese culture, the Japan Quarter serves as a vital representation of the cultural tapestry within the city of Düsseldorf. In crafting a distinctive identity for Little Tokyo, our aim was to visually manifest this uniqueness, endowing the Japanese quarter with enhanced prominence not only within the city but also on a broader regional scale, through a cohesive and unified appearance.

What sets Little Tokyo in Düsseldorf apart is its seamless fusion of Japanese and Rhineland cultures. This juxtaposition lends the district a distinctive character, forging a unique connection with the city while preserving its individual identity. Here, the rich heritage of Rhenish culture harmoniously blends with the vibrant tapestry of Japanese traditions.

We we thrilled of how well this project has been received by both city officials and the design community. The identity won a German Design Award for Excellent Communication Design in 2018.
